about
Wavelets, I’m Carolina Brum.
I am a Research Scientist with a strong track record of translating cutting-edge innovation into real-world impact. My work bridges Human–Computer Interaction, sensing technologies, and machine learning to design systems that are intuitive, accessible, and intelligent.
I’ve played a key role in developing breakthrough interaction technologies now used by millions. At Google, I contributed to the launch of in-air gesture recognition on the Pixel 4, enabling hands-free interaction through radar-based sensing. At Apple, I led the latency improvements of the Assistive Touch gesture recognition for the Apple Watch, expanding accessibility through subtle hand movements. More recently, I’ve been involved in Apple Intelligence initiatives, advancing personalized, privacy-preserving AI experiences at scale. I also developed predictive pointing machine learning algorithms for Meta, which reduced latency and compute in VR interactions.
My expertise spans end-to-end innovation—from prototyping and algorithm design to usability research and product integration. I’m driven by a vision of technology that not only anticipates human intent but also supports people in developing and refining their own skills—empowering users through thoughtful, adaptive design.
